A major fundraiser was held this evening in aid of the new Winchester Hospice.
The Sunflower Ball saw several hundred guests, including Winchester MP Steve Brine and his wife Susie, gather in Stoke Charity for a special dinner followed by an auction.
Former Medical Director at HHFT, Andrew Bishop, was the Master of Ceremonies and those present heard from Nick Vaughan and Lara Alloway who are Trustees of the Winchester Hospice charity.
Steve Brine said; "I have focused on the local healthcare since day one as our MP and a hospice for adults in Winchester has always been the missing piece of the jigsaw. I was so excited when HHFT told me of their plans to work with the charity on making this happen and it's now really happening.
"The sunflower ball was a very enjoyable evening but, as well as good fun, a sober reminder as to why this facility is so needed in Winchester."
The MP visited the site of the new hospice last year and plans to return this Summer to see progress as move towards its opening next year."
