To celebrate the UK’s first ever Green Great Britain Week, Steve Brine MP has pledged to make Cycle Winchester happen. This week is an opportunity to celebrate the UK’s achievements in leading the world at cutting our emissions while growing our economy, and explore the opportunities clean growth presents for businesses and communities in Winchester & Chandler’s Ford and across the UK.
There have been a huge number of events throughout the week bringing together businesses, schools, universities, community groups and charities across the country, exploring how we can all contribute to protect our environment and take action against climate change.
Steve Brine said: “The recent warnings from the IPCC on the serious consequences of climate change make the need for urgent action even clearer. That is why I have been delighted this week to see businesses and communities across the UK coming together to explore how we can all contribute to tackling climate change.
“I am a huge fan of Cycle Winchester, and we had a fantastic launch earlier this year in the Abbey Gardens, where we decided to make cycling so much easier locally. Put simply, we need to make this happen.”
