Winchester Business Improvement District will serve at least another five years, after over three quarters of city businesses voted in favour of retaining the service.
In operation since April 2008, the BID collects an annual levy from around 700businesses, each of whom pay an annual levy of 1.5% levy based on the rateable value of their premises. This collective investment means the BID, led by Catherine Turness, can work for local improvements in addition to those already delivered by statutory bodies, such as being a key player in preparing and marketing the city centre for Christmas shopping.
Steve Brine said: "My congratulations to all the BiD team for securing their third term. I know a great deal of work went into the process and, of course, over the past 8 years to secure such a strong mandate, and I look forward to working with them in my third term!"
