Steve and family chose local on his first weekend as the local MP at Winchester's popular market.
The Winchester Farmers' Market has become a popular mainstay of city life and it returned to the Middle Brook Street site on Sunday (9 May 2010).
Winchester MP Steve Brine, accompanied by his wife Susie, daughter Emily and Popcorn the dog, dropped in to pick up some locally sourced supplies and chat with residents.
Steve says; “We’ve supported the Farmers’ Market since it began because the quality of the produce on sale is so high. I have always banged on about supporting local business and this is a very practical way me and my family can do that. Popcorn had the time of his life as usual, his nose was on overdrive as we passed each and every stall with an assortment of tempting smells on offer!”
Local food for local people is what Hampshire Farmers’ Markets is about. Everything producers display actually comes from Hampshire or within ten miles of its fruitful borders and all produce being sold must have been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked, or processed in the county or within ten miles of its borders.
The market visits Winchester once a month and also visits The Fryern Arcade in Chandler’s Ford. For full details and dates, visit the site noted below.
