Steve Brine attended a special breakfast in the House of Lord on Wednesday 1st July to examine how business can improve results with a focus on disability.
The MP was invited by Chandler's Ford company Microlink PC, which is the UK's largest independent supplier of Assistive Technology and disability related management services.
The aim of the business is to empower people with disabilities to fulfil their potential through the use of bespoke assistive technology across their lifetime of education and employment, and they sponsored the breakfast event in the Lords, which heard an excellent presentation from Lloyds Banking Group, which earlier this year won four awards for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to employing, working with and doing business with disabled people.
They spoke about how they delivered substantial savings and improved productivity, with less sick leave and a 'dramatic improvement' in performance. In addition, there was improved morale, and greatly improved efficiency.
Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "It was a really interesting session about the savings orgs can make when they have a sensible strategy to deal with disability in all its forms. The savings Lloyds Banking Group who presented in terms of staff absences were striking."
