Winchester and Chandler's Ford MP, Steve Brine, and Cllr Jan Warwick, a councillor at Winchester City and Hampshire County Council, spent a morning speaking to residents in Otterbourne.
The south Winchester village had been hit with huge volumes of water over the preceding week, combined with a fallen tree blocking the culvert which culminated in poor conditions for locals.
Steve added : "A few properties experienced sewage coming ,with force, up the toilet and shower plug hole! A reminder that those who - irresponsibly - claim water companies can simply overnight switch off the combined sewer overflow system might wish to visit them this weekend. If it were that simple."
