Local MP Steve Brine dropped in to see the team at Nuffield Wessex Hospital on Winchester Road on Friday 22nd July.
Steve spoke at length with General Manager Simon Shepherd on a number of issues, including Government health reforms and Nuffield's work as part of the local health economy.
Steve was also able to take in a tour of the hospital, and took time to chat with a number of patients and staff members. As well as visiting mammography, MRI, hydrotherapy and several operating theatres, Steve also heard about exciting plans for a fourth theatre on the site.
Speaking on his way to his next appointment in the constituency, Steve said: "I really value my regular trips to Chandler's Ford, and while I hold a good number of my own surgeries in the area, it was most informative to take a look at surgery of a very different kind at Nuffield Wessex.
"Of course, as I promised Winchester & Chandler's Ford before I was elected, I am extremely focused on RHCH, and in particular protecting A&E and Maternity while the Trust merger goes ahead, but it was very important for me to come to Nuffield Wessex today to find out more about a different kind of hospital here in my constituency and hear about the wider health economy.
"I was fortunate to meet a great deal of people, including representatives of the 'Friends of Wessex Hospital', and I extend my thanks to Simon Shepherd and his team for the welcome they afforded me."
