Local MP Steve Brine met up with a local entrepreneur looking to promote independent shopping in Winchester (Friday 22nd June) and praised her positive outlook.
Steve chatted with Suzy Dierckx, from Hursley, about her work on Windependents, and was impressed by her positivity and clear dedication to preserving the character, and vibrancy, of the city.
Speaking afterwards, he said: "I am a keen follower of Windependents and really like Suzy's positive approach to everything that's good about the city we all love.
"It was useful to chat about some of the current issues facing Winchester and areas where we can maybe work together going forward. It was also really good to hear more about the Digital Mums which are really active in our area."
Suzy Dierckx said: "Winchester is a beautiful place to live. I set up @windependents primarily to learn about social media but also to reconnect with a city that I felt I didn't know well enough.
"My aim is to champion the voice of local independent businesses, share what's happening and raise awareness within our city online via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. It's my own opinion and I welcome the support of the local residents, businesses and my followers.
"We have to support local businesses to keep them in our city and I hope by sharing their stories, news and events, we can keep our city dynamic and a unique place to live. Get onboard, and do tag @windependents if you're running a Winchester event or if you're a local business. Let's stay connected!"
