Public Health Minister Steve Brine met up with Dr Sallie Bacon, the Director of Public Health for Hampshire, on Tuesday 10th October.
Steve Brine's focus to tackle cancer by addressing preventable causes was the main thrust, and they spoke about smoking, obesity, alcohol and drug usage.
Speaking afterwards, Steve said: "This was a very useful catch-up, and it is clear that while our population health is generally better than other areas of the country, with good outcomes, there are some pockets of deprivation.
"It was also good to know that reducing smoking in pregnancy prevalence, supporting NHS institutions to go smoke-free, staying involved in the STP and joining up with NHS on prevention are top of the agenda."
