Steve Brine dropped into Middle Brook Street on Friday (11th January) as he met the Bike Hub team at Winchester’s new Open House Deli.
Based in the Old Post Office, Bespoke Biking hosts the Bike Hub 7 days a week from 9.00am - 5.00pm with the deli open from 7.00am for healthy breakfasts.
Open House aims to offer simple, great tasting food that is uncomplicated, celebrating local seasonal ingredients. It provides choice, transparency and variety to suit any nutritional requirement, lifestyle choice or dietary need, and most importantly, all by way of zero waste and the ambition to avoid all single use plastic and unnecessary packaging.
Heather Evans, Director of Bespoke Biking, said: “We are so excited to be in partnership with Open House Deli. We think the combination of healthy nutritious food and cycling which is good for mind and body as well as reducing pollution in the environment, is such a great combination.
“Our trade increased really well last year in our unit in the basement of the Brooks Shopping Centre, so we are hoping we will do even better in our new location on Middle Brook Street. We are hugely grateful to Winchester City Council for their support to help make our dream come true.”
Rebecca Smith, who set up Open House Deli, said: “This has been a year of hard work and persistence trying to find the right place to make our ideas work. Heather and I are so proud of what we’ve achieved here, together with the help of our teams.
“Open House Deli is exactly that - an open house, somewhere that whatever your nutritional requirements there is choice and variety. It has been so important to me as a business owner that I’m aware of my impact on the environment, which is why I’ve made certain decisions to try to eliminate plastic, support other local businesses, and bring something innovative and creative to Winchester. We look forward to welcoming everyone in.”
Steve Brine said: “I dropped in to wish Heather and Rebecca all the best between appointments in town and was blown away by the activity inside. I am a keen cyclist myself and, like many of my constituents, just see this partnership as a perfect match. Good luck to all as they undoubtedly go from strength to strength!”
