Earlier this week Steve Brine MP attended an event in Parliament highlighting and promoting the enormous potential of the UK’s emergent medical cannabis industry and the challenges UK businesses are facing.
As part of the summit, Steve Brine MP met with business owners and manufacturers who are urging the Government to support a sector that has been projected to create 100,000 jobs across the country and help over 2 million UK patients.
UK businesses are struggling to scale and investment is being lost abroad, including to the Crown Dependencies who have made the necessary changes. As one of the largest exporters of medical cannabis in the world, the UK still imports all its necessary medical cannabis products under current regulations.
Over 100 businesses have come together to create recommendations that if implemented would allow the Government to secure the economic benefits of medical cannabis and CBD well-being products.
Steve Brine MP said: “The UK medical cannabis sector has enormous potential to not only to boost our economy at a crucial period, but also to dramatically improve the lives of over 2 million patients across the UK. It is crucial that the Government engages with the industry by giving them the support they need to ensure no more investment and opportunities are lost abroad”
