Steve Brine hosted business leaders from Hampshire in the House of Commons on Wednesday 16th July.
The Winchester & Chandler's Ford MP was joined by the Chair, Geoff French, and the Executive Director, Kathy Slack, of Enterprise M3, a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and a number of Hampshire MPs including James Arbuthnot, Jeremy Hunt, Sir George Young, Caroline Nokes and Maria Miller, as they discussed the Government's Growth Deal, and what that means locally.
Speaking after the meeting, Steve said: "This was an important meeting as we seek to build on what has already been excellent work in building our economy as part of our long-term economic plan."
The point was made by Enterprise M3 that the £118m funding from central government is 'fantastic news' for Hampshire and Surrey, as the money provided cements the area as a UK power house with an economy, which is not only important on a local level, but which has national importance.
Hampshire and Surrey, the MPs were told, benefit from a fantastic location, a skilled population and excellent infrastructure and the investment provided to this area will improve what already exists as well as generate skills and innovation for the future.
Steve continued: "The high turnout from MPs across Hampshire and Surrey was very welcome, and I know we look forward to working with our LEP as we continue to pull out all the stops in growing our local economy."
