Lazy Lizards, an exciting new Hampshire-based business, was delighted to welcome the MP for Winchester and Chandler's Ford to their stand at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham this week.
Lazy Lizards owner, Julia Mutlow of Winchester said, 'It was great to see Steve at our stand and introduce him to some of our funky range of toys, especially the thorny devil lizards - obviously in blue - our best seller! As they come in a riot of colours they are clearly non-partisan lizards, so something for everyone!'
Steve said, "We all know Winchester is home to hundreds of highly innovative and successful small businesses and now the rest of the country knows about one of the newest. Julia made quite a splash at conference in Birmingham and I really hope the experience launches Lazy Lizards into a new phase of commercial success."
Steve wasn't the only well-known face to meet Lazy Lizards this week. Actor and television presenter Christopher Biggins was also taken with these vibrant creatures, as was the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson who had a surprise encounter with a thorny devil whilst addressing a Conference fringe event.
Julia said: "As a small business our advertising budget isn't huge, so we had to be creative about building awareness. I had an idea about getting a photo of Boris with a lizard - colourful characters together - which I thought would be great for promoting Lazy Lizards. I therefore created a limited edition 'Boris Lizard' with Boris-like hair and attended a fringe event, at which he was speaking.
"In a moment of madness, I threw the blue 'Boris' on to the stage next to the real Boris! Fortunately, I didn't get myself arrested, Boris gamely waved his new 'monster', as he called it, aloft and pictures appeared in various national newspapers! Mission accomplished!"
