A double Bank Holiday weekend of community celebrations drew to a close with final events across Winchester and it's surrounding villages, including community thanksgiving for the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in Twyford.
Residents of the South Winchester village joined their local MP, the Mayor and city councillors at St Mary's Church for an address by, Canon, Dr. Peter Lippiett.
Winchester and Chandler's Ford MP, Steve Brine, said; "With events everywhere, you can’t be … everywhere but Twyford Parish kindly asked me to attend their very special Service of Thanksgiving for the Platinum Jubilee this morning alongside Mr Mayor and others. A pleasure to worship with you. God Save the Queen."
Councillor Sue Cook, who recently won re-election in Colden Common and Twyford ward, said; "Thank you so much to Steve and the Mayor for attending. A beautiful morning put together by the Parish and Dr Peter Lippiett. We were very blessed that so many could make it considering all the other events going on locally."
