Steve Brine praised the new opportunities for producers in Hampshire post-Brexit created by the Government’s ‘Open Doors food and drink export campaign’.
During oral Parliamentary questions to the Department of International trade, the Winchester & Chandler’s Ford MP welcomed the campaign which aims to create a long-term sustainable future for British farming, based on high standards, competitiveness, and productivity.
Speaking in the House Steve said; “It was good to see the Government’s new ‘Open Doors’ food and drink export campaign launched this week at the NFU conference, I was rather surprised though, to see only 1 in 5 of our food manufacturers, actually sell overseas at the moment.
“So, I wonder if the Minister tell me how producers in Hampshire can actually take advantage of our new international opportunities and trade deals through Open Doors and what support is available?”
The Minister responded to Steve’s question saying; “The simple answer is to go to https://exports.campaign.gov.uk/. There are master classes, meet the buyer events and the opportunity to send samples of their products to overseas buyers, in specially selected hampers. These are just some of the activities open to Hampshire businesses.”
