Steve Brine spent a couple of hours in the city centre chatting to traders from many of the city's shops, cafes and small businesses.
The Winchester MP was keen to gauge opinion on sales, footfall and confidence, particularly in light of George Osborne's praise of the city in the House of Commons earlier this week.
Steve took in a large part of the High Street, as well as The Square, and spoke to businesses including LK Bennett, La Place and the delightful Woodruffs, situated opposite Dinghams.
He said: "This is always a useful activity for me to undertake, and I try to squeeze this in whenever I can. The feedback was very valuable for me, especially in light of all the work that business owners, BID, Chamber and the city council are doing, and I am very grateful for the time, courtesy and warm welcome that I received."
