Dutch Embassy venue for Parliamentary bike ride

Steve Brine joined his colleagues on the All Party Cycling Group on Wednesday 8th June for the launch of Bike Week 2016, which was followed by the annual Parliamentary Bike ride.

The launch reception took place at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with an introduction to key initiatives around Bike Week's theme of 'cycling to work' including The Bike Week Cycle Challenge.

Demonstrating the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling, the week aims to get people to give cycling a go all over the UK, whether this be for fun, as a means of getting around to work or school, the local shops or just to visit friends.

This year's Bike Week has a special focus and will encourage people to use their bikes to cycle to work. Many people will use the events to ride and take part in 'buddy' rides with colleagues, scope out the easiest route to their place of work or take part in work place challenges.

The launch concluded with a special ride led by MPs and Peers to the Houses of Parliament.

Steve Brine said: "I was delighted to hook up with cross-party colleagues and take part in this event, which is very much a fixture on my calendar, and it was very appropriate that we were able to take in the launch reception at the Dutch Embassy before setting off on two wheels!"
